HIV is the abbreviation of Human Immunodeficiency Virus, and from Retroviruses family which are divided into two groups of HIV1 and HIV2. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is created by this virus. Prevalence of Virus Type 1 is all throughout the world and Virus Type 2 is mostly seen in West Africa and some limited parts of the world. From entry of AIDS virus to body up to positive laboratory result which shows infection of the patient may take 2 to 12 weeks and it may take even 6 months (window time). The people with risky behaviors, whose HIV test is negative, are required to repeat their HIV test three month later, and if their risky behavior continues, they should have HIV test each six-month. Since antibody can enter fetus’s body through infected mother and remain in its body for 18 months, among the methods applying for this disease, Eliza has an appropriate sensitivity which is used for primary test. This kit has a high sensitivity to determine the antibody specifically against HIV1 and HIV2. Positive samples taken by this method should be retested by Western Blot method to be certified.
